Oh boy. Here’s the action-packed trailer for Quantum Leap, a reboot of a much-loved 1990s TV show about a kind-hearted time traveler, coming to NBC and peacock.
Raymond Lee stars as a physicist who makes an unauthorized time jump to find himself in the body of a 1980s bank robber. In fact, he continues to jump with different people over the past decades, forced to solve problems theirs so that he can jump again — each time hoping that the next jump will take him home.
Judging by the explosive trailer, the new show might be a little more octane than the original. Judge for yourself when the new Quantum Leap premieres Monday, September 19, on NBC, airing the next day on the Peacock. This is how the streaming service begins showing new episodes of NBC shows the day after they air on TV, including Law & Order, One Chicago, La Brea, New Amsterdam, Young Rock and the network’s late-night lineup , including The Tonight Show. Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Saturday Night Live.
The series also stars Caitlin Bassett as a holographic sidekick, with Ernie Hudson returning to the base alongside Nanrisa Lee and Sandman star Mason Alexander Park.
Airing from 1989-93, the original Quantum Leap starred Scott Bakula as Sam Beckett, a scientist who landed in a different person’s body every week. Dean Stockwell, who died in November 2021, played Sam’s holographic guide Al.
Reboots from the 90s are currently popular as they sit on streaming services alongside the original shows. Peacock has already been revived Saved By The Bell and reimagined The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as Drama. Disney Plus turned Doogie Howser into Doogie Kamealoha MD, The Wonder Years gained a new Black cast, and Walker Texas Ranger was re-(cowboy)-booted on the CW.
