I started spriting this character back in March. I'm a little out of practice and I work pretty slowly. As you can see I've been trying different things with the hair lately.

What a cute little character! She looks all fun and lively haha.

Which hair are you sticking with? The long hair or the short hair? If you're going with the long hair, the sprites on the left are the style you'd want to do for; I can see what you're doing with the middle set and it makes perfect sense, but when it comes to pixels it's much much cleaner and readable to use clusters to show the shape of the hair instead of try to show strands. The colors of her outfit are all very similar too, so when you're zoomed out you can't really distinguish the different colors which takes away from detail and shading.

These are cute though, keep it up and can't wait to see more :D

The long hair is what I'm sticking with. I see it as one of her limbs at this point.

Right now I'm working on a sort of cloud pet. Outside of the red box is an older design where it was going to be a dog. I also tried to have Valery sitting down but it's probably going to need some work.

    A cloud pet? Original,yup...

I really like the shades on it. It looks really cool. Maybe make him while when it's normal/happy,gray when ot's sad and black-ish when it's mad? :U

That Puffy Dark Cloud's shading details are looking good and the Girl sprites is looking great. I'm starting to like the way you make your sprites =D though i'm not sure about the back hair but I'll give feedback about it in a few.

I like the originality you got here. To start, I really like this female character, there's a lot of personality shown here. Her stance is a bit too broad, looks almost like a male, I would suggest making her a bit more sleek, mainly in the shoulder area. Other than that I feel like what actually lacks is the colors you chose and the way it's shaded. The colors look super saturated and there isn't much contrast with it's tones. The pet cloud is hilarious!

This is one of my old palettes.
No hue-shifting, very little contrast. Not too long ago I didn't really see anything wrong with this.

    Here's a new palette I'm working on:

    Did some editing/reshading.

Edit: White background was hurting readability

Edit 2: Here's some background stuff I was working on.

Well shucks, not sure what to say to that.

[IMG] While I'm at it with changing up the design and the palette, I'm trying to add a little more personality to the poses.

Using day/night palettes. [IMG] I was working on this sprite between playing videogames over the last week. I got the idea to use the same colors as this foliage here.
Slightly earlier stage of the sprite.

Not bad, the hair on that red-head-chick looks a bit too "glossy" and "shiny", and not like natural hair if you ask me.
Everything else is well structured and shaded though, I like it.

A shame, I really like the shininess. I'll see about messing with it later.

Haha well shininess is good, I think it's just the way the clusters are made. It makes the her ponytail look like a big solid object instead of hair. That being said, it's not good to try to make individual strands, but just adding a little more texture to the clusters would make a world of difference. Not gonna lie, it can be challenging with small sprites but I know you can do it.

As I've said many times, you're improving very quickly and consistently. Keep 'em coming, I really enjoy seeing your pixels and progress!! :D

This would be the mother of the other red-haired girl and the owner of the mansion that I've been spriting. (That's her portrait in the living room, though it needs to be updated.)

I'm not quite happy with the skirt or the cape yet, I'll probably take another stab at those some time soon. Feel free to post crit on anything else in the mean-time.

    Dat big boi looking smug!
My favorite is the gurl on the left tho, the skin color is very nice and it allows for the very distinguishable shape of her body.

Since I never finished http://imgur.com/a/9qWWH I'm gonna touch up all the sprites, try to make everything look all nice, and try remaking it at some time. I'm considering this an early draft, and I'm wondering if I should try to finish it the way it is first so I can get some feedback on what to improve.
    Wouldn't you be?
Yeah I like her too. I wanted the red one to look "toned" and the pink one to look more "soft."

[IMG] Not really sure where I'm going with this piece. I wanted to make something that looked sad.

Background makes no sense but I got tired of working on it.

Those devils up there are awesome.
The picture you're making right now is not easy to read, there's the color but I suppose that is just construction colors yet. A bit more immediate is the graphical node betwen the sead tree and the background tree, there's a tangent with the two elements touching eachother and blurring the line between what is foreground and what is background. Avoiding graphical nodes can parasite a composition so it's important to eliminate them.
