An interesting animation done by fellow user @TechLeSSWaYz .
An animation full of bad-ass looking killing moves featuring sprites from anime fighting games such as "Persona 4: Arena" (being the only one I can identify lol).
A very interesting animation, with very eye appealing effects and intense action! If you enjoy cool combo sequences or gore/violence with well sprited anime characters, then this is the video for you!
Why not go and check it out? Support one of our fellow animators in our community?
Challenge Cup 5 has just ended! Check out the entries fighting for top 3!
Good morning/afternoon members of NexGen,

This is NΣRO hitting you up with some info about our official sprite collab;
“The Street Fighter V/ SFV sprite collab”

The SFV collab is off to a great start so far, with us having already 2 finished submissions!

[IMG] [IMG]

We have an amazing roster of spriters creating their own sprited versions of the SFV roster, consisting of:
@VoidAnims , @Denim , @NΣRO , @Zenaki , @Mat(NERAH) , @Vegi6ix , @SageHarpuiaDJ and lastly @rhlpixels
our goal is to re-create the entire main roster with our own style added onto them!

I’m happy to announce that this collab is still a go! And would also like to encourage any members of the forum who are interested in spriting or partaking in forum events to apply and get involved in the community! We’re currently looking for another 9 members, with the recent addition of F.A.N.G to the roster!

We hope to see another round of applications in soon, so hurry up before your character is taken!
And if you know anybody interested in Street Fighter or spriting in general, then refer them back to our forums and let them know of our activities, maybe get some friends involved as well!

Ciao, NΣRO
In @SJT15's
latest animation
we get see Mario and Bowser settle their issues in a way far more exciting than head stomping and tail swinging. Check out the video, the guy looks like a very promising animator!

Hey. Yeah you. Are you... bored? Do you want to watch a pathetically choreographed fight that's very reminiscent to when 'Dragonball Z' first aired on television? Sound mixing that'll make your ears bleed? Camera work that'll make your eyes roll in all 360 degrees?

Well, sorry - we don't have that. What we do have is an excellent, well-crafted animation made by @KiidXIII It's a sequel to one of his previous animations - appropriately named 'Metallix vs Dark Sonic'. Get ready for a fight that'll make you feel like you're watching a high quality anime as this is easily without a doubt one of his best work yet! Go check him out!

Interesting Beyond The Pixels #1
Tendril Critter Creation Process

First things first, I got my line art and base colors down. As you may notice, I left the hair very rough and the bottom blank; this is because I know the tendrils are going to be wavy and crazy so I don't want to confine them to a line art. I find it easier to let the waves and curls happen while I do the coloring; I will go over the technique used later. I also replaced all of the inside-line-art with the base colors. I don't like using line art inside my piece, takes up valuable space that could be used for details.

Next I went in to the actual shading. You may note that several changes took place in the process such as shape and palette. I chose to make the darkest part of the hair the second darkest blue I used in the blue tendrils to both tie the two sections together as well as create a little contrast with the red hair.

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Before I press forward, let's look at the technique used for shaping and shading the hair. The following steps are very important for understanding the making of the whole picture since the whole critter is made up of long hair/fur and tendrils.
The technique can be time consuming, but really very simple. I started with making the general shape I wanted with the darkest shade. Next, I refined it and added the tendril shapes I wanted. Keeping my lightsource in mind, I repeated this step in layers using the next color on the color ramp from darkest-lightest. Once I finished each layer, I went in and cleaned the shapes and applied AA where necessary; that's the only brutal part really is the cleaning up.

So from there I finished the rest of the creature's body using that same technique. You can see again that many changes were...
#Official Nex Youtube
What's up guys? We now have a Youtube Channel where we'll be featuring various videos from our community. If the staff spots an animation that really stand out in the animation section we'll offer the uploader a feature on our channel. We also feature challenge cup animations on our youtube as well, so be sure to take advantage of that. The channel isn't limited to just animations. If you have exciting footage of a project we'll support those types of submissions as well.

Here a couple that have been featured on our channel

You're also free request a feature by PMing myself, @JPG or @YungBlaze. If the video is up to standard you'll be featured.
If you're browsing through the sprite section, make sure to check out these galleries the next time you pass by. These are 5 really cool sprite galleries you just have to check out. Our new series will take a look at some talent within our sprite community and feature them in our article.

5. Fat Piranha's Den

[IMG] [IMG]

In @Yuuta's fishbowl you'll be able to find a range of sprites that have quite a bit of personality. The artist is a funny guy and that comedic aspect shines through quite often. You'll also find some interesting revamps of retro sprites. You can view more of Yuuta here

4. Windi's Haunted House

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Unfortunately in Windi's Haunted house you won't find any ghosts or goblins... but you will find a ton of badass sprites. @Windighost's work is smoothly shaded and has a unique style. The artist seems to sprite a wide range of fan art so this is definitely a place worth stopping by! Check him out here

3. Le Galleria De Pixel

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

This gallery is just badass. @The Phinx displays a very impressive catalogue of pixel art. He's got sprite sheets, one shots, and gifs. There's a ton of variety...
